Patrick is a senior energy sector transactional counsel, practicing all aspects of energy law and in related areas of corporate law, with extensive experience in domestic and international oil and gas property acquisitions and dispositions, property exchanges and diverse joint venture transactions. For over 34 years, Patrick has negotiated and drafted a variety of contracts relating to all aspects of the energy industry. Patrick continues to assist clients in all aspects of their transactions, including the establishment of their new corporations, and related financings.

Patrick has extensive experience with midstream transactions of most types, including drafting and negotiating C,O & O Agreements, processing and transportation, crude oil blending agreements, and contracts relating to various energy industry facility and infrastructure projects. He has provided advice relating to complex operational issues and the interpretation of industry agreements including farmout agreements, pooling agreements, operating agreements, royalty agreements, freehold leases and facilities agreements.

Patrick’s clients have included private and public corporations and former energy trusts, both in Canada and the United States, as well as international mining and E&P corporations, and oilfield service and midstream companies in Canada. Patrick has managed large teams of lawyers for clients and their projects for most of his career. Branching out recently, he has been appointed corporate secretary for publicly traded Pulse Seismic Inc.

Patrick’s client-focused approach is the result of his belief that he is retained to act on behalf of his clients, and to find innovative approaches to deal impediments. He is experienced in all areas of energy law, including matters of international energy and M&A transactions relating to joint drilling arrangements, joint ventures, geothermal drilling contracts and international asset acquisitions.

Building and maintaining positive relationships within the industry is a core belief in Patrick’s practice. He credits his involvement with industry associations as a key component to his success when dealing with energy matters.
