Ryan Flewelling


Ryan Flewelling is a Partner at Regent Law. He has a diverse civil litigation practice focusing mainly on commercial, construction and insolvency disputes as well as estate litigation. Ryan represents business owners in dispute resolution and litigation processes and also acts for trustees in insolvency proceedings. He has appeared before all levels of court in Ontario on motions, trials and appeals. He has also conducted trials in the Tax Court of Canada and judicial reviews in the Federal Courts. Ryan also has experience before the Ontario Municipal Board in both land use planning appeals and expropriation claims.

On his graduation from law school Ryan received first prizes in the areas of criminal procedure and family law. At his Call to the Ontario Bar in 2004, Ryan was recognized by the Law Society of Upper Canada for excellence in the estate planning component of the Bar Admission Course and finished in the top 25 of all 2004 Ontario Bar admission applicants.

Ryan articled at a national law firm and proceeded into private practice in 2004, where he was part of a winning litigation team that obtained an historic ruling at the Supreme Court of Canada with respect to the federal government’s constitutional jurisdiction over Métis and non-status Indians. He began his commercial litigation practice in 2006 with a prestigious Canadian (international) law firm and continued to develop it with an Ottawa boutique business law firm from 2008 to 2015. He joined a medium-sized full service Ottawa firm from 2015 to 2017 as its senior litigation associate. In March 2017 Ryan joined Regent Law as a Partner where he continues to provide superior legal counsel to Regent`s clients.

Ryan is married with two young children and enjoys spending time in the outdoors with his family. He also plays golf and enjoys cooking and gardening.
