Amanda Ellis’ practice focuses on corporate finance and secured financing transactions for both borrowers and private and institutional lenders. Ms. Ellis has acted for various banks and venture capital funds and provides advice and assistance in relation to both traditional and subordinated debt, as well as equity transactions. Ms. Ellis also advises companies of various sizes on general corporate commercial issues and transactions, and has significant experience acting for both vendors and purchasers on acquisitions, mergers and divestitures.
Ms. Ellis received both a B.Sc. (Hons.) and a B.A. from Mount Allison University and obtained her LL.B. from Dalhousie University in 2005. Prior to joining Burstall LLP, she was a partner at a corporate boutique law firm where she worked for 10 years. Ms. Ellis is a member of the Calgary Bar Association and the Canadian Bar Association. She has lectured several times on business law “start-up and growth” topics at the University of Calgary Law School. In addition, she has acted as Chief Risk Officer for a Schedule I bank.
